Migration of the corporate website for a chemical company

Our client, a leading chemical company, wanted to put its corporate website on a new technological basis. The technologies used so far, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and Vue.js, are to be replaced by Magnolia and Angular. This project aims to improve the user experience, increase the maintainability of the website and accelerate the development of new features. As part of this project, we work in an agile setup according to the Scrum framework to ensure flexible and iterative development.

To implement the project, we have put together an agile development team that works according to the Scrum framework. Our team consists of experienced developers, designers and project managers who work closely with the stakeholders of the chemical company. We work in two-week sprints, where we hold regular refinements, reviews, and daily stand-ups to monitor progress and make adjustments.

The technology migration includes two main components: the backend and the frontend of the website. In the backend, we are migrating from Adobe Experience Manager to Magnolia, a flexible and powerful content management system. Magnolia offers numerous advantages, including easier content handling, better integration with other systems, and improved scalability.

The frontend is being migrated from Vue.js to Angular. We are using Angular version 15 to take advantage of the platform’s latest features and improvements. Angular offers a robust and modular architecture that enables a clear separation of logic and representation, thus improving the maintainability and extensibility of the application.

As part of our agile setup, we work according to the Scrum framework. This proven process model enables us to react flexibly to changes and continuously optimize the development process. In our two-week sprints, we set clear goals and prioritize the tasks according to their value for the project.

Every sprint begins with a sprint planning session in which we set the goals for the next two weeks together with the stakeholders. During the sprint, we hold daily stand-ups to discuss progress and quickly identify and eliminate any obstacles. At the end of each sprint, we conduct a sprint review in which we present the results and collect feedback from the stakeholders. We then reflect on the process in the sprint retrospective and identify opportunities to improve our processes.

Migrating the company website to Magnolia and Angular brings numerous advantages. The new technological basis enables an improved user experience through faster loading times and intuitive navigation. Angular’s flexible and modular architecture makes the development and maintenance of the website much easier.

Thanks to the agile approach, we were able to respond quickly to requirements and changes, which led to high levels of stakeholder satisfaction. The iterative development enabled us to receive feedback early on and to continuously improve the application.

Another key advantage is the improved integration of the website with other systems of the chemical company. Magnolia offers extensive integration options that enabled us to integrate the website seamlessly into the existing IT landscape. This led to more efficient data management and improved overall performance.

By switching to Magnolia and Angular, we were able to significantly improve the performance and maintainability of the website. The agile approach based on the Scrum framework enabled us to respond flexibly to changes and to optimally take the needs of the stakeholders into account. The close collaboration between our development team and the stakeholders led to a smooth implementation and a high level of satisfaction for everyone involved.
